In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), PackTite™ is voluntarily recalling two older models of the PackTite heating unit for bed bug control.

Recall Summary

Name of Product: PackTite Heating Unit for Bed Bug Control

 

Description: Two older models of PackTite are affected by the recall. See photos and video links below to determine if your PackTite unit is involved in the recall.

 

Hazard:The bed bug heaters can overheat and melt or cause a fire.

 

Remedy: Consumers should stop using affected bed bug heating units immediately and contact PackTite to arrange for  replacement parts.

How to Determine if Your PackTite Unit is Involved in the Recall

The recalled PackTite® units were sold under the PackTite™ brand name. The outer covering is black and the brand name is stitched in white on the top flap of the covering.

 

If your PackTite is GREEN, this product (PackTite Closet) is NOT under recall.

 

If your PackTite unit has a BLACK covering and white stitching, unzip the top flap of your PackTite and look down at the heater that is connected underneath the black shelf.

If there is visible text printed on the upward-facing side of the heater casing, then your Packtite is NOT under recall.

 

If the side of the heater casing that is facing upward is blank, with no text visible, then your unit IS involved in the recall and you should follow the directions below (How to Participate in the Recall) to receive replacement parts for your PackTite Unit.

How to Participate in the Recall

 

If you have determined that your PackTite unit is one of the models under recall, send your name, address, phone and email address by email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

 

 

You will receive instructions for disabling the recalled unit, along with a pre-paid shipping label for sending in the removed parts.

 

Package the specified parts in any box or envelope, apply the pre-paid label and drop it off at any mail depot that accepts FedEx shipments.

 

You will receive replacement parts and instructions for connecting them to your PackTite unit. (Please allow 6 weeks to receive your replacement parts).{/slide}
